Update - Covid-19 Pandemic - June 29, 2020

Order in Council 689-2020 made on June 25, 2020 provides for the easing of certain measures implemented to protect public health while maintaining those measures needed for its continued protection.

We invite you to take note of the following measures provided for in Order in Council 689-2020 that pertain to the activities of the Court of Appeal:

  1. In any place, a person must, to the extent possible, maintain a distance of two metres from any other person;
  2. In courtrooms, a minimum distance of 1.5 metres must be maintained between the members of the public, when seated;
  3. A maximum of 50 persons may be in attendance in a courtroom. This maximum capacity must, however, comply with points 1 and 2;
  4. Measures regarding the holding of a hearing before a court of justice behind closed doors and the restriction on access by members of the public are revoked.
