The Court of Appeal has been in continuous existence since 1849 and is the highest court in Quebec.
In the vast majority of cases, the Court of Appeal is the final arbiter of the matters brought before it.
Through its commitment to judicial independence and impartiality, and its efforts to ensure access to justice, it stands today as one of the primary bastions of the rule of law in Quebec.
Please note that due to a staff shortage, the Court will have to close its Court office at the Montreal seat each day from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. as of April 7, 2026, until further notice. We are taking all possible steps to ensure that this will be a temporary measure and hope to be able to quickly resume our normal opening hours.
