The Honourable Andres C. Garin

Justice Andres C. Garin was called to the Quebec Bar in 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the Université de Montréal and a Bachelor of Common Law from the University of Ottawa. He also earned a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge.

Justice Garin began his career with the firm of Lapointe Rosenstein before joining the federal civil service as legal counsel within the Department of Justice. From 1999 to 2006, he worked as legal counsel at the Supreme Court of Canada. In 2006, he joined the firm of Ogilvy Renault (now Norton Rose Fulbright), where he practised public law and commercial law, returning to the Supreme Court from 2010 to 2012, this time as executive legal officer in the chambers of the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, Chief Justice of Canada. He became a litigation partner with Norton Rose Fulbright in 2013, where he chaired the firm’s Supreme Court of Canada and Appellate Advocacy Group. 

In April 2022, he was appointed to the Superior Court for the district of Montreal, where he was a sitting judge when he was elevated to the Court of Appeal in March 2026.
