NOTE: Only a French version of the guide is currently available, we are working on an English version.
The Court of Appeal of Quebec Guide to Legal Citation aims to provide the legal community with standardized writing and reference rules. Without imposing the rules as mandatory, the Court invites lawyers and litigants to use the rules in writing the various pleadings, briefs or memoranda they submit to the Court. Observation of these rules does not replace compliance with the rules of procedure of the Court. In the event of a conflict, the latter shall prevail.
Despite the fact that an English version of the guide is not yet available, there are nevertheless two bilingual lexicons that can be found in the appendix.
The Guide is updated periodically. Please be sure to use the most recent version.
