Justice Martin Vauclair was appointed to the Court of Appeal of Quebec in 2013, after serving for three years on the Superior Court (2010-2013) and five years on the Court of Québec (2005-2010).
Since 1993, he has written the book Traité de preuve et de procédure pénales, which is published yearly and covers developments in criminal law in Canada. He taught criminal law at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
After his studies in criminology, he worked in the area of community action related to the social reinsertion of adult offenders. He also taught criminology at Ahuntsic College and at the Université de Montréal. Called to the Quebec Bar in 1994, he practiced as a defence lawyer in criminal law until his appointment in 2005.
