The Honourable Claudine Roy was appointed as a justice of the Superior Court of Quebec for the district of Montreal in 2003. Justice Roy earned an LL.B. from Université Laval in 1977 and was called to the Quebec Bar in 1980. In 1992, she earned a Master’s degree in Law from the Université de Montréal.
Before her appointment to the Superior Court, Justice Roy was a partner with Ogilvy Renault (now Norton Rose Fulbright), where she was a member of the firm’s litigation group and coordinator of the research and administrative law groups. She also served as a lecturer at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) from 1991 to 1993. She is the author of a number of legal texts.
Justice Roy was a member of the Quebec Bar’s Compensation Fund Committee and the Committee on Discipline. She has also served as member of the Canadian Bar Association’s International Development Committee and as president of the CBA’s provincial and national Administrative Law Sections.
Justice Roy was appointed to the Court of Appeal of Quebec on August 17, 2017.
